We spend loads of our time at school
and we don't really want to think about it at the weekend, but we
have so much fun, that it's not fair to keep it all to ourselves. So
a friend of ours has agreed to do all the hard work for us, he is Dave
Morris, our Education
Co-ordinator. |

Hi, Dave here, As you will have seen from the rest of the web site the kids now have access to a full time radio station designed solely for them.
Since March 2002 Takeover
Radio has been
running a radio station on 103.2 FM. The licence was awarded by the Radio
Authority as a pilot project called Access Radio. |

We see this opportunity as one in which children can be heard by other children in schools thus offering an "audience" for sharing story and poetry work as prescribed in the Literacy Hour recommendations based at Primary level. Our plans are in their infancy at the moment and this is your opportunity to get involved at this early stage. Schools are invited to report on subjects of interest to them. Arts, sports, academics, activities, debates, entertainment, news and fund raising events are but a few of the subjects, which we are always looking to cover. Issues such as safety, the environment, and violence are also appropriate. Pupils can prepare reports under the supervision of their class teacher or subject teacher. We can give training to the teachers and pupils to help them prepare the work. The reports can then be sent to Takeover Radio Children's Media Trust via mail, in person, or by computer. We will edit and prepare material for broadcast. Material will be screened and broadcast according to criteria and priority established by Takeover Radio. Takeover.Radio Children's Media Trust will produce in house school material but we want you to be involved too. For more information and a Schools Pack send me an e-mail to education@takeoverradio.org giving your address and I will send one to you. |
